General Sinclair undertakes an unauthorized mission in the Sahara after Sergeant Major Sly Morgan is killed and Morgan's daughter Zoey disappears while pursuing evidence about his death. The investigation expands into an international threat involving a proposed Chinese-American partnership and orbiting nuclear weapons. The St. Martin's Press hardcover appeared in March 2023, and a mass-market version followed that December. Its publisher identifies the work as a military thriller within the Garrett Sinclair sequence. Tata retired from the United States Army as a brigadier general and has also held public-sector leadership roles, experience that informs the novel's command structures and operational settings. Total Empire uses that background to frame a conflict between official authority and a commander's personal obligations to his team and goddaughter.
