Antonio Giustozzi
Antonio Giustozzi studies insurgencies, armed organizations and state-building, with Afghanistan central to much of his research. He completed a doctorate in international relations at LSE and served with the United Nations Assistance Mission to Afghanistan in 2003-04. His 2019 study The Taliban at War: 2001-2018 draws on extensive field research, including hundreds of interviews with members of the movement, community elders and other sources. The book examines funding, military adaptation and the organization's multiple centers of power, covering developments from 2002 through the end of 2015. Giustozzi has also published Koran, Kalashnikov and Laptop, The Army of Afghanistan and The Art of Coercion. His academic affiliations have included King's College London and the Royal United Services Institute.
