Argentina Ryder

Argentina Ryder explores hesitant commitment through the working life of an animal doctor in Double Dog Dare. This second Paws and Claws novel follows Must Love Dogs and brings Luke together with Chance, two men whose expectations have been shaped by disappointment. Luke has reached the profession he imagined as a child, yet success as a veterinarian has not settled what he wants beyond the clinic. Chance arrives with different doubts about whether affection can last. Friends and the surrounding animal-care community keep their choices connected to everyday obligations rather than an isolated courtship. Ryder alternates attention between the pair, allowing trust to grow through conversation, practical help, and the gradual testing of assumptions. Published in 2022, Double Dog Dare extends the series by asking how people who anticipate loss can recognize a relationship worth choosing deliberately.
