Huffington collapsed from exhaustion in 2007, struck her desk and broke a cheekbone, and Thrive is the book she built out of it: an argument that money and power are an incomplete definition of success and that wellbeing, wisdom and giving belong inside it. She founded The Huffington Post in 2005 and sold it to AOL in 2011 for around three hundred million dollars, a sale that drew complaint from the unpaid bloggers who had supplied much of the writing. She then founded Thrive Global, which sells wellbeing programmes to corporations, so the book and the business it launched are not separable and the reader should know that going in. Born in Athens, she read economics at Cambridge.
