Ariele Sieling
Ariele Sieling writes science fiction and fantasy with an interest in strange worlds, playful ideas, and characters solving problems together. The Clock Winked and The Lonely Whelk began as parts of the Sagittan Chronicles, a sequence she later revised and repackaged as the Zirian Chronicles. The Clock Winked follows teenagers investigating an old mystery centered on a bookstore, while The Lonely Whelk connects a near-light-speed spacecraft with criminals pursuing new technology on their home planet. Sieling has explained that The Clock Winked was her first published book and that creating it taught her the practical craft of revising, designing, and releasing fiction. Her later reconsideration of the series kept the stories largely intact while updating their presentation and language. Alongside these novels, she writes across science fiction, fantasy, fairy tales, and other speculative forms, often mixing adventure with an offbeat comic sensibility. The two titles therefore mark both the beginning of her publishing career and the foundation of a fictional universe she continued to reshape over time.
