Arkady Ostrovsky
Arkady Ostrovsky is a Russian-born journalist whose reporting has included work for the Financial Times and The Economist, where he served as Moscow bureau chief and Russia editor. The Invention of Russia examines the country’s post-Soviet transformation through the editors, ideologues, television figures, and political strategists who shaped public life. Penguin’s US hardcover appeared in 2016, and its paperback followed in 2017. The Orwell Prize honored the book. Ostrovsky brought to it years of Moscow reporting and academic training in literature and theatre history.
