Damodaran teaches corporate finance and valuation at the Stern School at New York University, and is unusual among finance academics for giving almost everything away: lecture recordings, spreadsheets, and an annually updated dataset of industry cost-of-capital figures that practitioners use in real work. The Little Book of Valuation compresses the argument he makes at length elsewhere, that a valuation is a story with numbers attached and that most spreadsheets fail because the story behind them does not hold together. He posts running valuations of well-known companies on his blog and says plainly when the market later proves him wrong.
