Before it was a novel, I Think I Love You was a screenplay. Auriane Desombre reworked the script into a manuscript, won a place in the 2018 Pitch Wars mentoring scheme with the draft, and Underlined published the finished book on 2 March 2021. It is a young adult romantic comedy in which two rivals, Emma and Sophia, compete to make the short film that will win a trip to a Los Angeles festival, and it borrows its sparring pair from Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing with a nod to Jane Austen's Emma. Desombre studied writing for children and young adults at the New School while taking an English MA at NYU. She teaches middle school, and her later books for teenagers and younger readers include The Sister Split, I Love You S'More and Love in Ruins.
