Becky Dean

Becky Dean writes romantic comedies for teen readers that pair travel with questions about identity, family expectations, and first love. Picture Perfect Boyfriend, styled Picture-Perfect Boyfriend by Delacorte Press, sends aspiring nature photographer Kenzie Reed to Hawaii with a fictional boyfriend invented to satisfy her family. When a stranger arrives claiming that role, the holiday becomes a test of her assumptions about honesty and the future she wants. The publisher identifies the 2023 novel as teen romance for readers aged twelve and older and connects it with Dean's Love & Other Great Expectations, Hearts Overboard, and Love Unmasked. Photography matters to the story beyond the tropical scenery because Kenzie's creative ambition conflicts with the career planned for her. Dean uses the false-dating setup to keep the tone comic while giving Kenzie room to choose her own work and speak more directly with her family.
