Beverly Connor
Beverly Connor brought archaeological field experience to two American forensic mystery series. Skeleton Crew belongs to her Lindsay Chamberlain novels and was published by Cumberland House in 1999. Its fuller designation as a Lindsay Chamberlain novel distinguishes it from unrelated books with the same short title. Connor's other principal sequence follows forensic anthropologist Diane Fallon, director of a natural history museum in Georgia. Before turning that knowledge into fiction, Connor conducted archaeological fieldwork and analyzed artifacts in Georgia and South Carolina. Her books use material evidence, excavation, and scientific reasoning as engines for mystery plots, while the two series give those methods different professional settings. She also collaborated with her husband, Charles Connor, on two regional crime stories. Skeleton Crew is therefore best understood within Connor's archaeology-centered Lindsay Chamberlain bibliography, not as a standalone work detached from its recurring investigator and series history.
