Bill Konigsberg
Konigsberg was a sports journalist and an editor at ESPN, and in 2001 he wrote a column about being a gay man in that industry which won a media award and effectively ended the option of staying quiet. His novels are for teenagers. Out of the Pocket puts a closeted high school quarterback in front of a school newspaper. The Porcupine of Truth took the Stonewall Award. The Bridge opens with two strangers on a bridge in New York, both intending to jump, and then runs four versions of what happens depending on who moves first. He has spoken publicly about his own near-fatal depression.
