Bill Lubanovic

Introducing Python was written by somebody who has spent decades in Unix systems and web development rather than in teaching, and it shows in the emphasis: the standard library, the tools people really use, and a long stretch on what gets built with the language rather than only on its syntax. Lubanovic worked at an early internet service provider in Minnesota and has revised the book across editions as the language changed underneath it. It tends to be recommended to readers who found the friendlier introductions too slow to get anywhere.
