Al Sweigart

1985

Automate the Boring Stuff with Python is written for people with no intention of becoming programmers: office workers with a folder of files to rename, a form to fill in two hundred times, a spreadsheet to reconcile. No Starch Press brought it out in 2015, with a second edition in 2019, and it has passed half a million copies. Al Sweigart, an American software developer now based in Toronto, has produced a dozen or so beginner titles, including The Big Book of Small Python Projects and The Recursive Book of Recursion, and he maintains the automation libraries that his teaching relies on, among them PyAutoGUI and Pyperclip. His books carry a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA licence, unusual for a commercial technical publisher.
