Brenda Trim

Brenda Trim writes paranormal women's fiction that combines magical problems, friendship, family change, and mystery. Nasty Curses & Big Purses, published in 2022, is the sixth book in her Mystical Midlife in Maine series. The story returns to Phoebe, who is adjusting to supernatural abilities and a complicated new stage of life while trouble gathers around her familiar. A curse, an agitated ghost, and danger inside the magical community turn the investigation into a test of Phoebe's judgment and loyalties. Trim builds the series around a midlife protagonist rather than a teenage newcomer to magic, making experience, reinvention, and chosen family central to the fantasy framework. Nasty Curses & Big Purses also keeps the lighter rhythms associated with paranormal cozy fiction, using banter and community ties alongside its mystery plot. Its sixth-place position matters because relationships and magical rules have developed across the preceding Mystical Midlife in Maine novels.
