Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates recounts the early United States conflict with North African powers that captured merchant ships and demanded tribute. The book follows Jefferson’s decision to use naval and Marine forces against Tripoli and places that campaign within the young country’s struggle for international standing. Kilmeade’s later historical books include Sam Houston and the Alamo Avengers and Teddy and Booker T.
