Brian Rathbone
Brian Rathbone developed the World of Godsland from a lifelong interest in epic adventure, magic, and mythic creatures. His earlier work as a horse trainer and computer programmer informed both the practical handling of animals and the systematic construction of his fictional world. Call of the Herald opens The Dawning of Power trilogy and introduces the broader Godsland sequence. Published by White Wolf Press, the novel follows Catrin Volker as a dormant power awakens around her and draws ordinary rural life into a much larger conflict. Rathbone continued the story in Inherited Danger and Dragon Ore, then expanded Godsland through later trilogies and connected books. His approach favors long-form continuity: prophecies, political divisions, creatures, and family histories accumulate across volumes, while a young protagonist’s first discovery gradually widens into a multi-generational epic.
