C.J. English is a North Dakota writer and animal-rights advocate whose nonfiction ranges from personal narrative to plant-based living and rescue work. The memoir Affairytale reached publication during 2015, examining a marriage, an intense outside relationship, and the author’s attempt to understand the choices that reshaped her family life. English later announced that the original version would be adapted as fiction under the name C.J. Love-Jones. Her subsequent books include WTF Am I Supposed to Eat? and Rescue Matters, which turn toward food ethics, animal welfare, and firsthand experience with rescue organizations. She has received independent-book recognition for that later advocacy writing. Affairytale belongs to an earlier, more personal phase of her bibliography, but it already shows her preference for candid first-person examination of uncomfortable decisions. The book is therefore distinct from her later instructional and advocacy titles while helping explain the direct voice that continues across them.
