📚 3 Books ✍️ Fiction Books 📄 PDF & EPUB

C. Joh. Kieviet was a Dutch schoolteacher and children’s author best known for creating the mischievous schoolboy Dik Trom. Born Cornelis Johannes Kieviet in 1858, he worked as a teacher and tested stories on pupils before publication. De Zoon van Dik Trom continues the comic world that began with Uit het leven van Dik Trom and was later prohibited during the German occupation because of its anti-German snowball episode and patriotic language. Fulco de Minstreel belongs to Kieviet’s historical fiction, placing youthful adventure in the medieval period of Count Jan I. Gouden Daden, published in 1910, is another work from his broad output for younger readers. Kieviet also wrote De Kennemer Vrijbuiter, Wilde Bob, and numerous school and adventure stories. His career united classroom knowledge with a desire to replace overly obedient fictional children with livelier personalities. The three named books show both sides of that achievement: humorous contemporary mischief through Dik Trom and accessible historical adventure shaped for Dutch youth.
