Callie Smith Grant

Callie Smith Grant edits collections of true animal stories, bringing together accounts of companionship, rescue, mischief, and the everyday bonds people form with pets. The Cat in the Christmas Tree carries the subtitle And Other True Stories of Feline Joy and Merry Mischief and was published by Revell in 2022. Grant serves as editor, shaping contributions from several writers into a unified holiday collection. The pieces place cats amid seasonal routines, from decorated trees and ornaments to quieter moments of comfort and affection. Grant has assembled related anthologies including Second-Chance Cats, Second-Chance Dogs, and The Dog Who Came to Christmas. Her work emphasizes the individual voice of each contributor while giving the volume a consistent emotional arc. The Cat in the Christmas Tree suits readers who enjoy brief, warm nonfiction and recognize how an animal can transform a household tradition. Its appeal comes from varied lived experiences rather than a single continuous narrative, with feline unpredictability providing both comedy and tenderness.
