Camilla Bruce
Trondheim in central Norway is where Camilla Bruce writes, and criminal history keeps pulling her work back across the Atlantic. Her childhood was spent in an old forest next to an Iron Age burial mound, took a master's degree in comparative literature, and helped run a small press devoted to dark fairy tales before her first novel, You Let Me In, appeared in 2020. She writes in English. In the Garden of Spite (2021) reimagined Belle Gunness, an emigrant from her own corner of Norway. All The Blood We Share, published by Berkley in November 2022, follows the Bender family, who leave a Pennsylvania farm in 1871, after one of them kills a local man, for Labette County, Kansas, where Kate tells fortunes and her mother Elvira sells herbal remedies to travellers stopping at their roadside cabin. Publishers Weekly gave it a starred review. Bruce lives with her son and her cat.
