Set around two rival fried-chicken restaurants in a small Kansas town, it follows sisters Amanda and Mae as a reality television competition exposes a long family feud and competing ideas about work, loyalty, and home. The novel became a Reese’s Book Club selection and was adapted for television. Dell'Antonia previously edited Motherlode, co-hosted the #AmWriting podcast, and wrote How to Be a Happier Parent, experience that supports her close attention to household tensions and repair.
