Carl Weber

Carl Weber writes urban fiction about families whose businesses, loyalties, and rivalries blur the line between protection and power. The Education of Nevada Duncan, co-written with C. N. Phillips, expands Weber's Family Business world through its younger heir. Nevada belongs to the Duncan and Zuniga crime families, but before assuming authority he attends Chi's Finishing School, an elite academy for children of underworld figures. New friendships become essential when an enemy targets him beyond the reach of his usual family network. Urban Books issued the 2021 novel as a Family Business spin-off, joining Weber's long-running interest in succession and the costs of inherited influence. The unabridged Recorded Books production uses an ensemble of six narrators, including Reggie Baril and Kayla Grant, to separate its shifting perspectives. Weber, also a publisher and bookseller, builds the story around education in two senses: learning criminal systems and deciding which relationships deserve trust.
