Carolyn Davidson
Carolyn Davidson contributed a frontier romance to a three-author collection about marriage, resilience, and unexpected partnership. Wed Under Western Skies brings together her story “Abandoned” with Cheryl St. John’s “Almost a Bride” and Jenna Kernan’s “His Brother’s Bride.” Harlequin issued the collection in 2006, and Mills & Boon published a British edition in 2007. Davidson’s contribution follows a woman left in difficult circumstances and places her choices within the practical demands of Western settlement. The anthology format lets three writers approach courtship from separate settings and conflicts while maintaining a shared historical-romance frame. Davidson had already developed a long career in Western and Americana romance, and “Abandoned” fits her recurring interest in family formation under material pressure. Wed Under Western Skies should therefore be understood as a collaborative volume, not a single-author novel. Its structure matters because each contributor supplies a complete story, giving readers three distinct pairs, narrative voices, and versions of commitment within one edition.
