Jodi Thomas writes historical and contemporary fiction rooted in Texas places, family histories, and changing communities. Beneath the Texas Sky launched her career in 1988 and received both a Reviewers' Choice honor and recognition from the National Federation of Press Women. To Tame a Texan’s Heart later earned a Romance Writers of America RITA Award for historical romance, while Two Texas Hearts received a Holt Medallion. Thomas's long historical list places all three books within a continuing exploration of the American West. A fifth-generation Texan and former home-economics teacher, she later served as writer in residence at West Texas A&M University. She was inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame in 2006 and entered the Texas Literary Hall of Fame in 2022; her official biography credits her with five RITA Awards in total.
