The Wolf and the Witch begins a series in which a witch is married off to a cursed lord under a bargain neither of them agreed to, in a world steadily hunting magic out of existence. Weaks publishes through a small press and writes romantic fantasy weighted towards the fantasy, so the worldbuilding carries more than the courtship does. The bargain is the engine of it: neither party wanted the arrangement, both are bound by it, and the world offers no exit that does not cost somebody something. She comes from Tennessee and worked in graphic design before this.
