Charles Wyllys Elliott

Charles Wyllys Elliott wrote history, fiction, and social commentary in the nineteenth-century United States. St. Domingo, Its Revolution And Its Hero, Toussaint Louverture grew from a discourse prepared for the New York Library Association and presents the Haitian Revolution through the career of Toussaint Louverture. Elliott follows colonial Saint-Domingue, the uprising against slavery, changing European alliances, and Toussaint's rise as a political and military leader.
