Charlotte Byrd writes dark contemporary romance and romantic suspense, published independently in long, closely linked series. Tell Me to Stop, issued in 2019, opens a six-book run known as the Tell Me series; her other series are Black Edge, Tangled, Dark Intentions and the Highest Bidder. Her work has been licensed for French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese editions. In a 2015 interview she described leaving Pennsylvania for Los Angeles to study at USC and staying in California afterwards. She lives near Palm Springs, California, with her husband and son.
