Chase Taylor Hackett creates romantic fiction informed by long involvement with musical theater. And The Next Thing You Know… is the second volume in his Why You? series, following Where Do I Start? Lyrical Press published the novel in 2018 as a New York-set story about Jeffrey Bornic and Theo McPherson, two sharply different men connected through family and friendship. Hackett’s background includes membership in the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop and work as a book writer and lyricist for the stage. Raised on a Midwestern farm and later based in New York City, he brings both settings into his author biography even though the series itself is urban.
