Chris Carter

This is not the Chris Carter who created The X-Files. This one was born in Brazil, studied psychology in Michigan, and worked with a district attorney's criminal psychology team interviewing convicted killers before moving to London and writing the Robert Hunter novels, about a Los Angeles detective attached to an ultra-violent crimes unit. The interrogation scenes come out of the job rather than out of research. He played guitar in a band for years in between, which is the part of the biography nobody expects.
