Christy Sloat
Christy Sloat is a New Jersey author of paranormal, fantasy, and fiction for younger readers whose books often place ordinary relationships beside hidden histories. The Many Lives of Avery Snow opens the Past Lives series. Avery begins to recover memories of earlier lives after guidance from Ianni, and those memories complicate the competing attachments of her present. Reincarnation supplies the novel's structure, allowing identity, choice, and affection to recur in altered circumstances rather than remain confined to one timeline. First issued in 2012, this opening volume led to further stories built on the same series framework. Sloat's other fiction includes the Visitors series, beginning with The Brown House, and later fantasy such as Slumber. Her bibliography moves between ghosts, inherited stories, and fairy-tale elements while keeping a contemporary protagonist at the center. In The Many Lives of Avery Snow, the supernatural system is therefore closely tied to character: remembering other lives does not settle Avery's decisions but makes responsibility for the current one more difficult and more urgent.
