Credo Fitch Harris (1874-1956) was an American novelist, journalist, and broadcasting pioneer based in Louisville, Kentucky. His fiction included Toby: A Novel of Kentucky (1912), which was adapted into the 1918 silent film One Dollar Bid, along with Sunlight Patch (1915) and Wings of the Wind (1920). During the First World War he served with the Red Cross in France, an experience that directly shaped Where the Souls of Men are Calling. In the 1920s he became one of the region's early radio figures, managing Louisville station WHAS, which carried events such as the Kentucky Derby.
