Cyrus M Hussey was a Nantucket survivor and co-author, with William Lay, of A Narrative Of The Mutiny On Board The Ship Globe, Of Nantucket, In The Pacific Ocean, January, 1824. Issued in 1828, the account records the violent seizure of the whaling ship Globe and the experiences of crew members left amid its aftermath. Bibliographic records name Lay and Hussey together and identify the volume as an early American firsthand narrative, while surviving digitized copies preserve its original publication history. Hussey’s importance rests less on a broad literary career than on his role as a witness whose testimony helped turn a notorious maritime episode into a durable historical source.
