Author: David Mack
David Mack sold his first Star Trek work with John J. Ordover. The two pitched what became the 1995 Deep Space Nine episode Starship Down, and a second idea from the same meeting sat in the writers' room for years until Ronald D. Moore reshaped it into It's Only a Paper Moon. Mack, born on 12 May 1969, then built a career in prose. Destiny: The Complete Saga collects the three 2008 novels Gods of Night, Mere Mortals and Lost Souls, a crossover that throws the Enterprise-E, Titan and Aventine crews against a full Borg assault on the Federation while tracing the Borg back to where they came from; Gods of Night topped the Locus media-related bestseller list in January 2009. He had already begun Star Trek: Vanguard with Harbinger in 2005, a series he developed with the editor Marco Palmieri, and he later wrote the Cold Equations trilogy. The International Association of Media Tie-In Writers named him a Grandmaster with its Faust Award in 2022. He lives in New York City and has consulted on the animated shows Lower Decks and Prodigy. The comics artist who draws Kabuki is a different David Mack.
