David P. Silverman
Silverman is an Egyptologist who curated the Tutankhamun exhibitions that toured America and ran the Egyptian section of the museum at Pennsylvania, where he taught for decades. The volume here is a general introduction put together chapter by chapter with other specialists, which is how that kind of reference book is actually made and why no single voice runs through it. He worked on the Giza plateau mapping project and on tomb inscriptions, and the popular writing sits on top of that fieldwork rather than replacing it.
