David Sheff is an American journalist and author known for long-form interviews and narrative nonfiction. All We Are Saying grew from his extensive September 1980 conversations with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, conducted for Playboy and later arranged as a book. The exchange ranges across their music, creative partnership, family life, politics, the Beatles, and the ways each understood the other's art. St. Martin's Griffin issued a later edition with new introductory material by Sheff and Ono, preserving the immediacy of the original dialogue while adding retrospective context.
