David VanderMeulen

Vandermeulen is a Belgian comics writer, born in 1968, whose long project has been Fritz Haber, a documentary series about the chemist who pulled nitrogen from air to feed much of the world and then directed the first large-scale gas attacks of the First World War. That interest in science with a conscience problem drew Yuval Noah Harari, who asked him to adapt Sapiens into comics. Vandermeulen wrote the scripts alongside Harari, Daniel Casanave drew them, and the first volume appeared in 2020. He has also edited comics and taught in Brussels.
