Sower of Dreams opens the Gods' Dream Trilogy and sends Khan Laenser from present-day Earth to the ancient world of Kimtair through the intervention of the goddess Withea. There he joins Princess Daria of Seagem, who has fled an invading king, and their alliance connects divine obligation with political survival. Reaper of Dreams and Harvest of Dreams continue the sequence. Holland is also known for the Montana Sky novels set around Sweetwater Springs, beginning with Wild Montana Sky, which won a Romance Writers of America Golden Heart before publication. Her nonfiction includes The Essential Guide to Grief and Grieving. Sower of Dreams reveals a different side of her storytelling: desert and sea landscapes, gods, kingdoms, and magical duty replace the Montana frontier, while courage, loss, and rebuilding remain central to the characters' emotional lives.
