Derek Milman
Derek Milman is a novelist whose work combines suspense for teen readers with sharply observed characters. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers published Swipe Right for Murder as his second novel for teen readers. James Patterson contributed its foreword. The publisher describes a mistaken-identity thriller in which seventeen-year-old Aidan Jamison becomes entangled with authorities and a dangerous group after one reckless night in New York. That premise lets Milman use the machinery of a chase story while keeping Aidan’s voice, fear, and resilience at the center. Before writing novels, Milman worked across theatre, screenwriting, teaching, performance, and independent publishing, experience reflected in the book’s fast scenes and dark humor. His debut, Scream All Night, drew on horror-film culture, while the later A Darker Mischief continued his interest in uneasy institutions. Swipe Right for Murder places contemporary identity and emotional stakes inside a deliberately cinematic suspense framework.
