Before becoming an author, Zahler worked in children’s publishing, while travel and reading have supplied settings and story ideas. Her other fairy-tale novels include A True Princess, Princess of the Wild Swans, and Sleeping Beauty’s Daughters. The Thirteenth Princess was her debut novel and established her characteristic blend of familiar folklore, original characters, and a young protagonist learning to act on her own judgment.
