Douglas Blackburn

Douglas Blackburn combined journalism and fiction with practical experience in southern Africa. In The Detection of Forgery, he worked with Captain Waithman Caddell to produce a handbook for people responsible for examining questioned documents. The 1909 volume identifies Blackburn as a former expert to the Natal Criminal Investigation Department and the Transvaal Republic, connecting its advice to professional casework rather than abstract speculation.
