Elle McNicoll

McNicoll is a Scottish author who is neurodivergent and writes neurodivergent children as people rather than as problems to be solved. A Kind of Spark follows an autistic girl in a Scottish town campaigning for a memorial to the women put to death there as witches, because she recognises what being called different does to a person. It won the Blue Peter Book Award and was made into a television series. Show Us Who You Are and Like a Charm came after.
