Eva Verde is a British novelist and essayist from East London whose work examines identity, class, family tension, and women’s anger. Lives Like Mine, her debut novel, centres on a dual-heritage mother negotiating marriage, motherhood, prejudice, and a disruptive relationship. In Bloom follows three generations of women as old choices and family history shape their efforts to live differently. Simon & Schuster published both novels. Verde’s shorter writing has appeared in Marie Claire, Grazia, Elle, and The Big Issue, while her essay I Am Not Your Tituba was included in Kit de Waal’s Common People, an anthology of working-class writers. She also wrote a new foreword for Jackie Collins’s Goddess of Vengeance. Across Lives Like Mine and In Bloom, Verde returns to women whose outwardly settled lives conceal conflicts involving belonging, memory, and social expectation. Her fiction treats those pressures through family relationships rather than abstraction, giving several generations room to disagree about what freedom and loyalty require.
