Emmy Ellis is an English crime writer from Retford, Nottinghamshire, with a large bibliography of psychological suspense and police investigation novels. Farmoor Close opens her Detectives sequence, using a residential street where several neighbours maintain carefully protected private histories. A fiftieth-birthday gathering brings Coral Banks, Rebecca Stallard, Michelle McCracken, and Katy Webber into the same uneasy social space as anonymous messages and disturbing discoveries unsettle their routines. The 2023 novel uses multiple viewpoints rather than attaching the whole inquiry to one detective. Fathers and Sons and Hiding Guilt are listed as later Detectives installments. Her other series include the DI Bethany Smith books, and she collaborated with M. A. Comley on the DI Helena Stratton sequence.
