Eric Koester writes, teaches, and builds programs for new authors, while his middle grade fantasy combines family mystery with magical adventure. The Pennymores and the Curse of the Invisible Quill introduces the Pennymore siblings and begins The Pennymores series. New Degree Press published the illustrated novel in 2022. When Parker Pennymore disappears, his twin sister, Gwendolyn, follows clues connected to a hidden world, an unusual quill, and the stories their family has carried across generations. Maps and illustrations help shape the book’s exploratory character, while the sibling relationship keeps the fantasy grounded in loyalty and responsibility. Koester also created the Manuscripts writing program at Georgetown University, work that reflects his broader interest in helping new writers develop and publish books. This debut volume is aimed at middle grade readers but uses a layered family puzzle that can engage older readers as well.
