Eric Van Lustbader
Eric Van Lustbader, born in Greenwich Village in 1946, took a sociology degree at Columbia, qualified to teach young children, and covered Elton John and David Bowie for Cash Box while working in the record business at Elektra and CBS. The Sunset Warrior, his first novel, appeared in 1977, and The Ninja three years later introduced Nicholas Linnear and made his reputation. In 2003 the estate of Robert Ludlum asked him to carry Jason Bourne forward; eleven Bourne titles followed, from The Bourne Legacy in 2004 to The Bourne Initiative in 2017, after which he stepped away from the character. Omega Rules (Forge, 2022) is the third book in a series he began himself in 2020. Evan Ryder, once a field agent for a covert arm of the Defense Department, now works for Parachute, a quantum-computing firm whose private intelligence network outstrips most governments', and the killing of one of its people in Vienna sends her across borders after Omega, a cult set on bringing down democratic government. He and his wife live on the South Fork of Long Island.
