Its fuller title, This Star Won’t Go Out: The Life and Words of Esther Grace Earl, describes that documentary structure. Her parents founded the charitable organization This Star Won’t Go Out in 2011, three years before the book appeared under the same name. Esther’s own writing remains the center, but the editorial work of her parents and the contributions of friends are essential to how readers encounter it.
