F.S. Yousaf

1996

Serenity collects short free-verse pieces about love, marriage and faith, most of them addressed to Yousaf's wife, and it found its readership the way most poetry does now, through the platforms rather than the journals. The lines are plain and deliberately unliterary, which is the quarrel critics have with the whole category and also the reason it reaches people who own no other book of poems. He has kept writing in the same register since.
