Fern Michaels
1933
Fern Michaels builds long-running suspense series around friendship, collective action, and women who refuse to leave injustice unanswered. Tick Tock is the thirty-fourth novel in her Sisterhood sequence, following 19 Yellow Moon Road and preceding Rock Bottom. The story reunites Myra, Charles, and their allies after Nikki is seriously injured and evidence suggests that the group's online security has been breached. A network of former enemies turns the case into both a rescue effort and a test of the Sisterhood's loyalty. Zebra's mass-market release arrived in December 2022, while Michaels's own bibliography records the title under Kensington's 2023 list. The difference reflects edition and catalogue dating rather than a separate work. Across the wider series, Michaels moves between official careers and covert missions, using recurring characters to make each new threat part of an accumulated shared history. Tick Tock therefore works as a suspense novel and as a consequence of alliances formed over the previous thirty-three installments.
