Frank P. Ryan

Frank P. Ryan is an Irish-born physician and author whose fiction ranges from medical thrillers to fantasy shaped by Celtic tradition. The Snowmelt River begins his Three Powers sequence and follows Alan Duval, Kate, Mark, and Mo as they cross from ordinary life into a dangerous otherworld. Jo Fletcher Books released this fantasy in 2012, while later editions appeared under the Mobius imprint. Ryan builds the quest around prophecy, magical crystals, riddles, and encounters with nonhuman peoples, drawing openly on Irish legend while creating his own geography and conflicts. The four young travelers bring different histories and abilities to the journey, so companionship is as important as supernatural power. The Snowmelt River also marked Ryan’s move into fantasy for younger readers after an established career in science and suspense writing. Its combination of portal adventure, folklore, and a continuing ensemble prepares the larger series without withholding a substantial first journey, making it a useful entry point to Ryan’s imaginative work.
