Soft Science, Franny Choi's second collection, won the Science Fiction Poetry Association's Elgin Award in 2020, its cyborgs and chatbots pressing at race, gender and what gets counted as human. The World Keeps Ending, and the World Goes On came from Ecco in 2022 and reached the shortlist for the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. Choi, a queer Korean American poet and essayist, holds an MFA from Michigan's Helen Zell Writers Program, is a Kundiman fellow, and has received the Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship along with Princeton's Holmes National Poetry Prize. They set up Brew & Forge in 2016 to connect writers with movement organisers, served as poet laureate of Northampton, Massachusetts, and joined Bennington's literature faculty in 2022, where the courses they teach range across disability justice, abolitionist poetry and Asian American writing about robots. An earlier collection, Floating, Brilliant, Gone, appeared in 2014.
